Für alle Anwendungen bei denen Duftöle, Parfümöle und ätherische Öle länger erhalten bleiben sollen, zum Beispiel zur Raumbeduftung, Blütenpotpourries, Duftsteine usw. Damit hält sich der Duft länger auf Oberflächen.
Der Fixateur ist auch zur kosmetischen Anwendung geeignet, allerdings macht das nur Sinn in unverdünnten Ölmischungen. Parfums werden meist mit Alkohol verdünnt. Alkohol lässt den Duft schneller verdunsten, der Fixateur langsamer, dass heisst die Wirkung ist entgegengesetzt.
